Sensual Dreamin'
- The Unfinished Novel by Canada's Great Author Terrance McKenna -

TERRANCE MCKENNA

Sigh... Terrance McKenna... I'm sure my mentioning of that name brings some of canada's great novels to mind, and so it should. Terrance McKenna, sometimes refered to as "Canada's Greatest Poetic Mind", has written many classics that are well known to us all... What's NOT so WELL KNOWN is the story contained below. The recently discovered first draft and plan for Terrance's last novel has been typed up word-for-word below. Sensual Dreamin' tells a futuristic tale of a young girl on the run named Tanis Nelmes.

But who is this TANIS NELMES that Terrance quotes?

This question is very often speculated upon by the greats in The Canadian Historical Authors Association (CHAA). Some believe that she was Terrance's last lover and muse, some believe she is merely the fictitious main character of the story, but then why quote her?, and others believe she was a rivaling great author of Terrance's time period who's work has since all been destroyed... The true answer to the question we will probably never know adding to the mystery of this great piece of fiction.

ABOUT THE PIECE

Discovered back in May of 1999, this is the first public display of the story. The 3 page document was discovered by 3 high school students in the room of Terrance McKenna that has been moved into a museum in Alberta close to Terrance's home town. The 3 students snuck into the display to make out and ended up knocking over Terrance's desk, in doing so a secret drawer opened at the back and when opened this is what they found...

Sensual Dreamin'
By Terrance McKenna

Prologue
"The end is the start and so on and so forth..." - Tanis Nelmes

Those words have haunted me since the end. The end of what you ask? The end of Tanis! How did she end? I don't know, but it has something to do with the cogs of time... We had figured out how to clone her and then she was gone, along with her clone... How does a person end? Do they cease to exist? Existentially the die...? NO! The end is near but has already happened...

Chapter 1
"This is my body you eat, this is my blood you drink..." - Tanis Nelmes

Tanis and Phillipe sat on the beach and were eating their ROMANTIC things!

(insert ROMANCE here...)

(insert SEXY LANGUAGE here...)

"Oh you're right, we're so romantic, I hope this situation doesn't fliiiiiiiiip..." Tanis sighed.

"It won't," spoke sexy Phillipe in sexy ways!

They went inside the beach house in which they lived...

Chapter 2
"It fliiiiiiiiiiiiips!" - Tanis Nelmes

They lay on the floor of their boudoir naked and smoking their Marijuanna cigarettes and eating sweets off the sweaty floor. It was dirty, but they didn't care.

"My god you do love making superbly Phillipe!" Tanis sighed eating a chocolate with a bit of mud on it.

"I say lass I do..." Phillipe answered in a sexy voice.

Just then a man covered in dirt burst through the windows looking into the room! "It's fliiiiiiping!" Tanis screamed, "WHY GOD WHY???"

The dirty man took a gun and shot Phillipe in the heart, Tanis grabbed a robe and began to run. She'd done this before, whenever she fell in love the dirty man would return like a shot in the dark.

She ran and kept on running.

(insert a month of running here)

Chapter 3
"When you smile the whole world dies..." - Tanis Nelmes

A cloud fell over our town as she stumbled in. I am a scientist at Chronabiologicaligy Labs. It was raining the night she barged into our lab and shocked us all with her bizarre theories of the world. She understood so much yet was serendipitous to all the experiments we ran. The clouds kept coming, they came even harder when I began falling in love with this beast of spontaneity of Jesus! The love began when we were running tests on her and she kept staring as I took a blood sample from her appendage.

We did a lot of tests involving

(insert SCIENTIFIC JARGON here...)

We discovered she was metabolically the daughter of Christ, we decided we had to clone her.

Using the blood tests we'd taken we developed a clone but it was too much... The tests showed that when the clone

(insert BIG THEORY here...)

I went to Tanis and spoke to her, the ROMANCE was growing and I could see that I was losing control of myself... I ran out of the room when she began shouting ROMANCES at me...

Chapter 4
"[insert intellectual saying here]" - Tanis Nelmes

The clone began ROMANCING me too, she was worse, our theories showed

(insert ANOTHER THEORY here...)

(insert a MONTH OF CONTEMPLATION AND AVOIDENCE OF THE TWO here...)

The darkness came over me and I ran to her room... I was erratically ready to love the clone... NOT TANIS, I ran in and... SHE WAS GONE!!!

Chapter 5
"The world is a vampire..." - Tanis Nelmes

I ran to Tanis' room, I was going to tell her I loved her and settle for the lesser of the two. I barged in and SHE WAS GONE!!! In her place was a dirty man...!!!

Chapter 6
"All in all you're just another brick in the wall..." - Tanis Nelmes

"You are EVIL!!!" The dirty man shouted as he ran toward me with a butcher blade...

I dodged it and

(insert FIGHT here...)

"JUST STOP IT!!! STOP IT!!!" I shouted, and he gave up, the knife fell to the floor.

"She-" He stopped.

"Tanis? WHAT WAS SHE???" I SHOUTED INTERROGATINGLY!!!

"Look at the cogs of time..." The dirty man sighed as he faded away to nothing...

Chapter 7
"...you can always go... DOWNTOWN!" - Tanis Nelmes

I fell into depression. I'd lost her... All I had left was the words we shared and the cogs of time... I live in an apartment on the south, I'm lost...

Chapter 8
"Sometimes the end really is the beginning you know..." - Tanis Nelmes

The man cried all day till the end of time...

*This work obviously was never finished and really did include the sections above contained in brackets (). The first sheet had written on it "First Draft" and was signed by Mr. Terrance McKenna. The last sheet had written on the bottom "To the ones you hope to see..." as a dedication and was also signed by Terrance. The work is now in a glass display case next to the room display in which it was discovered. Also contained in the drawer were 3 unpublished poems that the great author had written in his last living year, these still have not been released publically or placed on display...
